Outreach Tutorials!

Femaura's tutorials have been such a success that we have started to receive requests from far afield.

We have really enjoyed delivering these tutorials and students have enjoyed the benefit of having a BSL teacher travel to them personally.

BSL tutorials can be tailored to match the individual and can be offered at all levels from Level 1 and 2 to interpreter standard, covering a range of topics.

There are varying reasons for choosing to have private tutorials. Some students simply want to learn to sign for their own development, others want to increase their confidence in BSL or supplement their learning from a previous BSL course if they feel they are falling behind. Whatever your reasons, Femaura are willing to assist you.

In order to satisfy demand for tutorials and to ensure that our time is used effectively, we have made some alterations to our tutorial guidelines as follows:

For students living within Zone 1 - Minimum 1 hour booking

For students living within Zones 2-3 - Minimum 2 hours booking

For students living within Zones 4-6 - minimum 2.5 hours booking

We are happy to travel to areas outside London. Depending on where you are based, we may insist on a half day or full day booking to make the best use of time and to ensure that you gain the maximum benefit from your tutorials. Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

After the success of Femaura's Sign Language courses, we have now expanded our training to all Interpreters and Communication Support Worker (CSWs).

We feel it is important for interpreters and CSWs to update their skills and expand their expertises in their work environment.

Spanish Sign Language Level 1 Intensive Course

One of our British Sign Language (BSL) Teachers is bilingual and in addition to using BSL also uses Spanish Sign Language. Femaura is planning to provide a one week course in Spanish Sign Language (LSE)

The course will include a basic introduction to Spanish Sign Language (LSE). Students will also be taught written Spanish.

By the end of the course students will be able to :

Have a basic conversation in Spanish Sign Language covering a range of everyday topics
Have the conference and ability to communicate with Signers (Spanish)
Understand Spanish Deaf Culture
Appreciate the differences between BSL and Spanish Sign Language.

On completion of the course students will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

The course will run from 29 June to 3 July 2010 9.30am to 5.30pm. The cost of the course will be £225.00

Latest news... BSL Intensive Course Level 1

The Level 1 intensive course has just finished at Femaura and all the students involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They found the intensive teaching programme with exam at the end to be very beneficial. Some students enjoyed it so much that they did not want it to end and wished they could have stayed longer!
